Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse - Outpatient Services

Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse.  An RN is preferred, but we will consider an LPN to join our dedicated team in providing high-quality care for individuals receiving psychiatric outpatient services. We welcome applications from both experienced nurses and new graduates who are passionate about mental health and eager to learn about psychiatric nursing. As a key member of our mental health care team, the Psychiatric Nurse will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in our outpatient facility. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Management:

    • Monitor psychotropic medications, educating patients on their purpose, dosage, and potential side effects​

    • Work closely with psychiatrists and psychiatric PAs to adjust medication regimens as necessary

  2. Crisis Intervention:

    • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and crises promptly and effectively

    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to ensure comprehensive crisis management

  3. Prior Authorization for Visits and Medications:

    • Initiate and complete the prior authorization process when needed for patient visits and prescribed medications, ensuring timely approval

    • Collaborate with insurance companies and pharmacy benefit managers to advocate for necessary authorizations

  4. Patient Education:

    • Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies

    • Foster a supportive and educational environment to empower patients in their recovery

  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory standards

    • Report and document any incidents, changes in patient condition, or concerns promptly

    • Computer skills are necessary for efficient documentation, communication, and utilization of electronic health records

  6. Hybrid Position:

    • Consideration for hybrid position based on experience and qualifications

Qualifications:

•      Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a valid state license

•      New graduates are encouraged to apply, with a willingness to learn and develop skills in psychiatric nursing

•      Strong interpersonal and communication skills

•      Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

•      Knowledge of psychiatric medications, therapeutic interventions, crisis management, and prior authorization processes

Requirements:
