Dr. Alfredo Aguirre, M.D

Dr. Aguirre is a board-certfied Psychiatrist who opened his practice, Park Valley Behavioral Health Care in 1999 and has provided the Wheeling area with mental health services for 20 years. Dr. Aguirre attended medical school at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, completed his psychiatric residency at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute, and pursued a fellowship in child psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of Pittsburgh.

With over 35 years of experience in psychiatry, Dr. Aguirre has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient, as well as residential and correction facilities. He is dedicated to keeping up with psychiatric research and is always furthering his knowledge base.

 

Dr. Aguirre’s thorough diagnostic technique allows him to evaluate patient’s lives from multiple perspectives to determine the most accessible and effective treatment plan for the individual. In addition to his experience, he also demonstrates compassion and has a genuine desire to help meet the individual or family where they are at and guide them to an improved quality of life.

Dr. Aguirre is fluent in Spanish and English

Brittany is a graduate of the Masters of Physician Assistant Studies Program at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She is certified by the NCCPA and licensed in the states of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. At Park Valley, Brittany strives to provide her patients with exceptional and personalized care. She welcomes patients into her office with an open ear and a safe space to tell their story and express their concerns. Brittany is certified by Postpartum Support International to provide care and medication management to those suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Brittany states,

"Working in the mental health field has opened my eyes to just how debilitating a mental illness can be. I hope to minimize any stigma attached to seeking psychiatric care. Seeing a psychiatrist and/or a therapist should feel no different than going to a family doctor for high blood pressure. I am dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve a better life balance."

Bill Childers, PA-C

Mr. Childers has been a Physician Assistant for over 28 years. He is certified by the NCCPA and licensed in the states of West Virginia and Ohio. Bill enjoys both the challenges and the rewards of working in clinical practice. In addition to his clinical experience, he has also worked several years in Physician Assistant education.

Sherri Cox-Camden is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of West Virginia. She is the veteran clinician in our office, with 23 years of experience in the mental health field. Sherri has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children with depression, grief, anxiety, and trauma histories. A skilled provider of couples and family counseling, Sherri is our lead therapist, mentoring and supporting her co-workers and offering outstanding teaching of healthy boundaries and communication.

"I realize it feels risky to come to counseling. My approach is nonjudgmental and collaborative, working with the client to identify the root cause of problems so we can identify solutions for moving forward. I view my clients as courageous for taking this first step toward change."


Sherri's approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, and person centered techniques. Sherri works with other agencies in the community for comprehensive multidisciplinary team approaches to treatment.

Jessica Bozenske is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of West Virginia who has been practicing as a therapist for 20 years. Jessica has worked for Park Valley for over 8 years primarily with children, adolescents, and families, but also sees adult clients. She has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, ASD, and depression. She also works within local schools to help students cope with stressful situations of academics and home life. Jessica's approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilizes behavioral and person-centered techniques.

Peggy Sullivan, MSW, LICSW

Peggy Sullivan is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of West Virginia and has been a valued member of Park Valley for 6 years. Peggy works with adults and children. One of her many passions include working with children under the age of 10 and their families. Peggy is experienced with helping people through different transitions of life including grief, recovery after divorce, and other significant crises. She is also active with the local YWCA and participates in guiding survivors of domestic violence. Peggy is known around the office for her insight into the challenges children of alcoholics and other substance use disorders face on a daily basis. When asked about her life's work as a counselor, Peggy said,

"I'm reminded of a quote by Helen Keller, 'Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.' I am honored and humbled by the resilience I've witnessed in my clients."

Julie received her Masters Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University and is licensed in the state of West Virginia as an Independent Clinical Social Worker. She has worked several years with children and adults at local mental health agencies, hospitals, and organizations focusing on community service and child advocacy. She has extensive experience working with clients struggling with child development, childhood trauma, and those needing crisis intervention. Julie is passionate about identifying sources of stress and trauma unique to children and providing them the tools to cope in day to day life. She uses an eclectic approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic interventions, solution focused therapies, and motivational interviewing to facilitate treatment with her clients. When asked about her life’s work, Julie said,

"I’m committed to assisting individuals develop the skills and strategies needed to tackle like’s challenges while maximizing their potential."

Rhonda Senakievich, LICSW, PMH-C

Rhonda has been working as a social worker and therapist since 2007. Although new to our office, she has years of experience working with clients of all ages and with a variety of needs. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and is a firm supporter of family systems theory. From helping children through play therapy, to providing group therapy to adolescents, to assisting hospice patients and their families cope and prepare for end of life, loss and grief, she is well-rounded and open to accepting all clients, regardless of age. Her friendly and non-judgmental manner help to put people at ease, enabling and encouraging communication and healing.

"Some of the most important work we can do is within ourselves. We must be patient and show ourselves the kindness and compassion we show to others. As a Social Worker, I strive to help others grow through loss, struggle, and suffering, in order to reach their goals and achieve peace.”

Amy Halicky, BSS

Amy has been working in the Social Services field since 1996. She has worked in many different areas and with people who have a variety of different needs. Her experiences have made her knowledgeable of available services in the Ohio Valley. Amy is kind, outgoing, helpful, and mature allowing clients to feel comfortable opening up to her. 

"My experiences allow me to help people to identify the cause of their problems, along with their current stressors so they are able to work through them and move forward in their recovery. Recognizing and allowing others to help you on your path to recovery is the first step to becoming your best self."

Veronica Reynolds is a Licensed Independent Certified Social Worker in the state of WV. Her primary area of professional interest is the treatment of traumatic stress. She holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies and is certified as a Field Traumatologist. She has over 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and families, although adolescents and young adults hold a special place in her heart. Her primary counseling techniques include person-centered, motivational interviewing, TFCBT, DBT, Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness-based strategies. A firm believer in the value of self-determination, life-long learning, and the human experience, she believes every person is both a masterpiece and a work in progress.

Bianca Benson, LPC, ATR

Bianca is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who holds the national credential of Registered Art Therapist (ATR). She has received training in play therapy. Bianca loves working with children, youth, and their families and is passionate about art therapy for this population. Bianca has also worked with people of all ages, adults, as well as children. She is familiar with people struggling with life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief.

“Children and teens have special developmental needs and process information in a hands-on, experimental way that is different from adults. Art and play therapy meet these needs and are the perfect therapeutic approaches for children and youth.”

 Introducing Laura Smith, LPC, whose career journey reflects a wealth of experience and expertise in a variety of settings, from home to college to residential and now to outpatient services. Her primary focus has been working with those who have experienced trauma.


Laura's professional qualifications are impressive, with certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART) and Motivational Interviewing. Her proficiency extends to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and various behavioral therapeutic approaches.
 
Laura's certifications underscore her dedication to staying at the forefront of evidence-based practices while meeting her patients where they are and walking alongside them in treatment. She has a special interest in working with adolescents and young adults, but her schedule is open to all ages.
 
"I believe that every person is doing the best that they can at any given time AND that there is always the ability to know better and do better through therapy. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive environment for patients to explore what it means to them to have a life worth living."
